RAWALPINDI - Punjab Emergency Service (PES) Rescue 1122 has rescued a total of 20,02,025 emergency victims in 18,35,020 rescue operations in all districts of Punjab since its inception in October 2004.
These figures were announced by Director General (DG) PES Rescue 1122 Dr Rizwan Naseer while reviewing the performance of Rescue 1122 here on Thursday. The DG said that during this span of time, the PES continued assisting other provinces, including Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa, Gilgit Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir. He said the Punjab Rescue service helped other provinces establish Rescue 1122 and also imparted training to their officials including of Aman Foundation, Karachi. He asserted that Rescue 1122 faced several challenges during this period but established effective system of emergency care, Modern Fire Service, Water Rescue Teams, Disaster Response Team and Animal Rescue Teams and by the grace of Almighty Allah it has rescued over 2 million emergency victims. He said that PES has provided services without any discrimination and created sense of safety in society.
The total number of emergency victims rescued by Rescue 1122 included 488218 emergency victims in Lahore, 191454 in Faisalabad, 68904 in Rawalpindi, 81201in Bahawalpur, 164114 in Multan, 87402 in Dera Ghazi Khan, 59887 in Rahim Yar Khan, 70074 in Sahiwal, 57004 in Sialkot, 115111 in Gujranwala, 21419 in Murree, 51309 in Sargodha, 52522 in Jhang, 21190 in Toba Tek Singh, 29374 in Muzafargarh, 51561 in Rajanpur, 15291 in Mianwali, 26848 in Pakpattan, 24531 in Kasur, 23418 in Gujrat, 22605 in Bahawalnagar, 17141 in Jehlum, 21895 in Attock, 25341 in Khanewal, 16340 in Vehari, 10468 in Chakwal, 24945 in Okara, 24144 in Hafizabad, 24395 in Sheikhupura, 25488 in Lodhran, 12545 in Nankana Sahib, 13144 in Khushab, 12096 in Mandibaha-ud-din, 15249 in Narowal, 16304 in Layyah, 2927 Chinniot and 16166 in Bhakkar.
The emergency calls to which Rescue 1122 responded included 707820 Road Traffic Accident, 871401 medical and other emergencies, 46739 fire incidents, 3980 building collapse incidents, 759 explosions, 70076 crime calls, 130038 and 4207 drowning Case.
Dr Rizwan Naseer said that Rescuers would maintain the same standards of the service in new districts of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa, AJK and Karachi to gain respect and blessings of the public by maintaining a courteous professional approach. Although an international standard emergency service was available for rescue of emergency victims but the increase in the number of avoidable roads traffic accidents and fire incidents necessitates the need to work together for prevention of such emergencies to build a safer Pakistan, he further added.
